Rising star Julian “El Camaron” Ramirez (15-0, 8 KOs) will look to continue on his undefeated path to boxing stardom as he takes on veteran fighter Christopher “S.D. Kid” Martin (28-6-3, 9 KOs) at the Belasco Theatre on January 29 as a part of Golden Boy’s LA Fight Club series.

Ramirez will have extra motivation going into this bout, as he will be fighting for his first world title. The bout will crown a new WBC Youth Featherweight champion.

Martin on the other hand has had his fair share of battles that most would say tested his endurance to last the full rounds of each fight. Ramirez spoke with Round By Round Boxing about his upcoming fight and what we can look forward to.

Round By Round Boxing: Thanks for taking the time to speak with us today Julian. How has training camp been going thus far?

Julian Ramirez: Thank you. Training camp has been going great, I’m working out harder and harder everyday. I’m ready to step into the ring.

RBRBoxing: Talk to me a little bit about this fight and what you’re expecting.

JR: Well, I’m expecting Martin to come out and fight. We are training for the best Chris Martin to come out and fight us and I know I’m ready.

RBRBoxing: This is the first time you’ll be fighting for a world title, does that add any extra pressure going into the bout?

JR: No, I don’t feel any extra pressure at all. I train for every fight the same way, and that way is to come out and get the victory no matter what. I’ve always wanted to become a world champion and this is the first step towards that.

RBR Boxing: Is there anything you feel Martin brings to the table that could cause problems for you?

JR: Not really. I feel like I’m ready for everything. I plan on going out and kicking ass.

RBRBoxing: Right on. Tell me about how you got to where you are today. What fighters inspired you growing up?

JR: I actually started boxing because a friend of mine introduced me to a boxing gym. He started showing me some combinations and movements and from then on I just fell in love with the sport. I grew up watching all boxers. Of course one of the guys I enjoyed watching a lot was Julio Cesar Chavez like many other boxers.

RBRBoxing: Awesome. Lastly, tell me what fans can expect to see on fight night.

JR: Fans should expect a great fight. Like I said before I plan on coming out to kick ass and give the fans something fun and exciting to see.

RBRBoxing: Thank you Julian and best of luck to you on the 29th.

JR: Thank you.
