Below are what the fighters had to say about their upcoming fights.

JULIAN “EL CAMARON” RAMIREZ, Featherweight Contender:

“I have sparred with Martin in the past and have an idea of what he is like as a fighter.

“I think Martin is going to come at his best and will be smart. I don’t anticipate him being sluggish. I think this is his chance to bring his ‘A’ game so I have prepared myself for a tough fight.

“My style is very aggressive; I am a brawler but can change it up when I need to. It all depends on the style of my opponent. I can adjust easily to make sure I get the victory.

“This fight is very important to be because I know this title is going to open up the doors for me in the sport. Winning will move me up higher in the featherweight divisional rankings.”

ABRAHAM “CHAMACO” LOPEZ, Featherweight Contender:

“I am ready to take care of business on Jan. 29. I am very prepared and ready to fight at my pace.

“I came back to boxing because I feel like I can be a world champion. My father used to box, his nickname was also ‘Chamaco,’ it’s a way to make my father proud and I want to do that by winning a world championship for both of us.

“I feel like I am a threat in the featherweight division and I know I will get my chance on the title. For now all I have to do is take care of Martin on Jan. 29 and prove to everyone that I am ready to move up to contender status.”

EDGARD VALERIO, Featherweight Prospect:

“I am a technical fighter and a Mexican style fighter. I don’t like to get hit and I make sure to be prepared with a great defense and offense.

“I always have a plan A, B and C. I have to calculate the opponent and determine their skills and do what I need to do to make sure I have a victory.

PABLO “THE SHARK” RUBIO JR., Super Bantamweight Prospect:

“We are going to have fun at the Belasco on Jan. 29 it’s a great venue for boxing.

“I have been boxing since I was eight years old and one of my first trainers was Hector Rodriguez. He and my dad trained me, and I knew early on I had what it took to become a professional boxer.

“I’m going to go into the ring to drown my opponent. I am an aggressive fighter and will be looking for the knock-out but am prepared to go the distance.”
