On Saturday, October 21, 2017 from Verona, NY, undefeated Golden Boy Promotions prospect, Lamont Roach Jr. (15-0, 6 KOs), took on one of the best opponents of his professional career in Luis Hinojosa (30-13, 17 KOs).

The Lightweight bout was scheduled for 10 rounds and took place on the undercard of the HBO Boxing After Dark tripleheader headlined by Jezreel Corrales and Alberto Machado.

Roach Jr. remained unbeaten after defeating Hinojosa by TKO in Round 1. Hinojosa rolled his ankle towards the end of the round and was unable to continue.

“A win is a win, but honestly I wanted this fight to end with him on the floor with a body punch or feeling his head swirl because I clipped him in the chin,” said Roach, Jr.

“This week, my team has gone from hell and back after losing my cousin, trainer, and mentor, Coach Roach. This win is a symbolism of the victories that await us because of the hard work put in by him.”
