ORANGE, Calif. (May 26, 2015) – Former Olympian Cesar Villarraga (6-0, 4 KOs), one of the brightest prospects in the lightweight division, is featured on the undercard of Thompson Boxing‘s fifteenth year anniversary show, titled “Path to Glory” this Friday, May 29 from the Doubletree Hotel, Ontario, Calif.

Villarraga, out of Colombia, looks to remain unbeaten against Erick Aguirre (6-6-2, 4 KOs) of Mexico in a fight scheduled for six rounds.

Since turning professional two years ago, Villarraga has split his time between Los Angeles and his native Colombia. Trained by the Southern California-based Danny Zamora, Villarraga has made expedient progress as a professional, one made possible by his outstanding amateur run. Villarraga had more than 200 wins as an amateur, and represented Colombia in the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

“Cesar isn’t your typical prospect,” Zamora said. “He comes from a tremendous amateur background. He is far more experienced and polished than what his record indicates.”

Villarraga, a southpaw, registered four wins last year and is coming off a first round knockout win over Jesus Angulo in February. The scouting report on Villarraga would mention his outstanding hand speed and knockout power in either hand.

“Everyday is a new opportunity to improve in some way,” Villarraga said. “The truly great boxers are able to dominate a fight in a variety of ways. That’s the boxer that I want to become. I want to be as versatile as possible.”

One of Southern California’s most popular fighters, Efrain Esquivias (17-3-1, 10 KOs), jumps to the featherweight division to face the young Jose Haro (8-1-1, 6 KOs) of Salt Lake City. The fight is scheduled for eight competitive rounds.
