Earlier today at Shimazu Arena in Kyoto, Japan, Luis Nery (24-0, 18 KOs) put a stunning end to Shinsuke Yamanaka’s (27-1-2, 19 KOs) six-year title reign, handing the Japanese fighter his first loss via fourth-round stoppage.
The Bantamweight fight was contested for Yamanaka’s WBC title on his home turf of Japan.
At only 22 years of age, the Tijuana, Mexico-born Nery was fighting outside of his home country for the first time.
The victory over Yamanaka undoubtedly gives Nery the biggest victory of his career.
