On Friday, April 14, 2017, Manny Robles Jr. (12-0, 4KOs) scored a six-round unanimous decision victory against Antonio Martinez (6-9, 5KOs) in the TV opener for Goldenboy’s LA Fight Club at the Belasco Theater in Downtown, Los Angeles.

The fight, which was his debut with Golden Boy Promotions, was televised on Estrella TV, while the entire card was streamed via RingTVLive.com

Martinez started the fight behind the jab but couldn’t really do anything offensively as Robles effectively countered. Robles’ offensive attack was varied as he threw in three to five punch combinations to the head and body.

Robles landed a left uppercut to the head that caught the attention of Martinez to close the first. It was evident from the in the second round that Martinez had an uphill battle the rest of the night as he was conceding both power, speed, and offensive creativity to Robles.

Both fighters traded hard right hands in the third round which brought the crowd to life. The action heated up in as both men began to trade power punches and this resulted in a cut being opened up on the right eye of Martinez.

In the fourth round, Robles continued his offensive onslaught. Martinez was hurt on multiple occasions over the rest of the fight but showed lots of heart to survive.

Robles went on to win by a unanimous decision with scorecards of 60-54, 60-54 and 59-55.
