Marco Antonio Rubio has been after a marquee matchup, primarily against Miguel Cotto. But, since Cotto has shown no interest in fighting Rubio it seems as though the rugged Mexican has moved on.
Earlier today, Rubio announced via Twitter that he will instead be facing the highly-avoided Middleweight, Gennady Golovkin.
Golovkin is coming off of an impressive third-round destruction of Daniel Geale, Rubio defeated Domenico Spada in 10th-round KO.
Since @RealMiguelCotto didn't want to fight me,we're fighting @gggboxing October 18. I never backdown from anyone, the battle is coming!

At 34 years of age and with over 65 bouts to his credit, Rubio is no spring chicken. But, he’s as tough as they come and should be a stern test for GGG.
No word from Golovkin on whether or not this fight is a done deal.
More to come.
