According to Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN, Mexican legend and ESPN Deportes analyst Juan Manuel Marquez (56-7-1, 40 KOs) is set to announce his retirement from the sport of boxing on Friday, August 4, 2017.

Marquez, known in the ring as “Dinamita,” was last seen in the ring against Mike Alvarado in May of 2014–a fight he won by unanimous decision.

Known best for his series of four fights with Filipino icon, Manny Pacquiao, Marquez had been looking to make a comeback in 2017, but after a long career his body was not up for the task.

Marquez fought the best of the best, including Orlando Salido, Chris John, Marco Antonio Barrera, Joel Casamayor, Juan Diaz, Floyd Mayweather and Timothy Bradley.

Marquez will undoubtedly be remembered best for his blistering knockout of Pacquiao in their final fight.
