In a battle of two featherweights, Miguel Marriaga (19-0, 17 KOs) knocked out Christopher Martin (28-4-3, 9 KOs) in the sixth round of a scheduled eight-round fight at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, CA.

The fight was the first televised bout of a card headlined by the IBF Middleweight title eliminator between Curtis Stevens and Hassan N’Dam.

Marriaga pushed forward early, using a combination of head movement and a peek-a-boo stance to walk Martin down in every round.

Martin, from the opening rounds, seemed to be outgunned as he retreated more and more on to the ropes, where Marriaga would unleash several hooks to the body and head.

The fight seemed to be in jeopardy early as Martin had no answers for Marriaga’s pressure.

To make matters worse, Marriaga landed an overhand right in Round 4 that cut Martin above his left eye.

Marriaga would end the fight by knocking Martin down in Round 6, following up with a powerful flurry, partially blocked, but which included a powerful fight-finishing right uppercut.
