Mikaela Mayer (10-0, 4 KOs) preserved her undefeated record by defeating Yareli Larios (13-2-1, 3 KOs) by unanimous decision.

The scorecards read 80-72, 79-73 and 78-74 all in favor of Mayer who successfully defended her NABF Super Featherweight title for the second time.

In what started off as a boxing match quickly turned into a slug fest as both females let their hands go early and often in this contest.

Mayer’s who was a 2012 Olympian did what she wanted against her much shorter opponent. Larios was game all night but just couldn’t find the right shots to hurt her opponent or seize control of the match.

At the midway point of the fight it was becoming increasingly evident that Larios needed a knockout to win the contest, something that her own corner even pointed out to her.

The championship rounds is where Mayer’s truly shined. She landed several combinations in the seventh and eighth rounds that forced her opponent to the ropes. From there she tee’d off on her battered foe.

Larios showed true grit in not wavering at any point in the contest. That grit and determination was not rewarded as she lost a clear decision.

With only ten pro fights to her name it is that Mayer’s has a big future in the sport. Her fight against Larios was the co main event to WBA Middleweight champion Rob Brant’s title defense. After the contest she made it clear that she is already ready for more titles as well.

With that kind of performance she very well might be. Women’s boxing is certainly heating up.
