Murat Gassiev vs. Yunier Dorticos

Yunier Dorticos started the fight relentlessly coming forward, backing Murat Gassiev into unfamiliar territory against the ropes.

Although Gassiev is used to being the aggressor, he did a find job of fighting off the back foot and countered Dorticos with a huge shot in Round 1.

Dorticos showed no ill effects early on through the first couple of rounds, but Gassiev began landing more clean blows and seemed to rock his opponent towards the end of Round 5.

Halfway through the bout, the pattern continued as Dorticos stalked Gassiev, but continually ate heavy shots to try and land his own power punches.

By Round 8, Gassiev began walking forward as Dorticos tired ever so slightly. The punch output from Doricos slowed down and Gassiev was able to dictate a slower pace.

By Round 10, Dorticos’ basic one-two combination upstairs was simply not enough to discourage Gassiev from coming forward and unloading.

Dorticos showed a great chin, but he was hit cleanly with everything in the book by Gassiev.

After almost ending things in Round 11, Gassiev caught up with Dorticos in Round 12–knocking him down three times and ending things on the third knockdown where the Cuban fell through the ropes.
