It was a night of knockouts on Friday, December 4, 2015, as King’s Promotions promoted their first professional boxing event in Maryland.

The venue was the historic Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, Maryland and the six-fight card featured undefeated Forestville, Maryland Super lightweight, Mykal “The Professor” Fox (8-0, 2 KOs) in the main event against Adam “Bad Boy” Maté (18-7, 11 KOs) of Sopron, Hungary.

The six-round main event ended up being the only bout that went the distance, but it did provide excitement and technical dominance by Fox who is the younger brother of DiBella Entertainment fighter, Alantez Fox.

The 6’3½” Fox came out intent on working behind his jab, which he did well, pulling the trigger on his left occasionally as he kept Mate at a frustrating distance.

Mate tried to close the distance and land power punches to Fox’s head, but he was unable to land more than one punch at a time as Fox showed great boxing ability and ring smarts by turning Mate when necessary to keep him off balance.

Though Fox didn’t open up his offensive arsenal as much as he probably could have, his footwork and movement were sharp as he was often in place to effectively shoot the lead left hand.

Mate was game for much of the first half of the bout, coming forward endlessly, but in the final two rounds Fox simply walked his man down and picked his shots (mostly to the body) with patience and precision.

The 20-year-old Fox walked away with a unanimous decision victory, closing out his first headlining bout with much success.

Fox has all the time in the world to mature into a physically stronger boxer, but even at this point–as he grows into his frame–there are tons of attributes that set him apart and make him an up-and-coming prospect to watch.
