Muhammad Ali Knew He Couldn’t Have Defeated This Heavyweight, Even at His Peak

Boxing icon Muhammad Ali once revealed the one fighter that he would have never beaten.

Best known as ‘The Greatest’, Ali is often described as one of, if not the greatest fighter to have ever lived.

His career spanned just over 20-years, beginning in 1961 shortly after he captured a gold medal at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. Ali rose to prominence in the mid 1960’s when he defeated Sonny Liston in 1964 to capture the world heavyweight championship for the first time.

He would go on to make 11 successful defences of his crown, defeating the likes of Henry Cooper and Floyd Patterson along the way. Ali suffered the first defeat of his career when he was outpointed over 15-rounds by Joe Frazier in 1971, although he would go on to avenge this defeat in their second and third fights in the years following.

In a YouTube clip with BerranLee, Ali revealed Mike Tyson as the one fighter that he would have never defeated, admitting he would have failed to defeat him during any stage of his career.

“I’m scared of him. He’s a real champ. [Tyson would have won], I was a dancing master. You are that powerful and so fast, if he hit me [mimics falling over].”

Just like Ali, ‘Iron’ Mike is recognised as being one of the greatest heavyweights to ever lace up the gloves. He rose to stardom in the 1980’s, defeating Trevor Berbick in 1986 to capture the WBC heavyweight title and become the youngest heavyweight champion in history when he was just 20-years old.

Tyson made a sensational return to boxing last November when he faced YouTube sensation turned professional fighter Jake Paul, losing to the 27-year-old over 8-rounds at the AT&T Stadium in Texas.
