Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder is one heavyweight showdown that boxing fans might have missed out on.

After years of speculation, the former world heavyweight champions are yet to lock horns despite a number of calls to get a fight made between the pair.

Wilder, who held the WBC heavyweight title for five years, has suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, as he finds himself having to make an important decision on his future in the sport.

‘AJ’ experienced defeat for the fourth time in his career last September when he was knocked out in the fifth round by fellow Brit & IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois. Many expected a routine victory for Joshua, but the explosiveness and power of ‘Dynamite’ proved to be too much for him.

Speaking to BoxNation, the 34-year-old from Watford was asked if he thinks Wilder should walk away from the sport, to which he said no.

“Nah, he’s still dangerous. There’s still a lot he can do. There’s still a lot he can do, but if he gets too caught up in the life outside boxing he’ll return. Because you know what it is, if you listen to everyone’s opinion you’ll start swaying your own intuition … In short, I don’t think he should, but I hope he’s not listening to everyone’s opinion, because everyone thinks he should.”

‘The Bronze Bomber’ has confirmed he will return to action in 2025 and reports state his next fight will be in April with an opponent to be announced shortly.
