After a razor-close victory over Mikaela Mayer (17-1, 5 KOs), it’s not surprising that many people’s first post-fight question for Alycia “The Bomb” Baumgardner (13-1, 7 KOs) was if she would like to fight Mayer again.

While fans and pundits may be itching to see Mayer and Baumgardner battle again, the Detroit-native is solely focused on her goal of becoming undisputed champion.

“That girl ain’t getting no rematch,” said Baumgardner during her immediate post-fight interview. “I’m going after Choi [Hyun-Mi] like I said. Undisputed is what I claimed. It’s what I’m going to do.”

Indeed, it makes sense that Baumgardner will continue marching towards a clash with Choi. If Mayer would have won, you have to assume she’d be singing the same tune.

It’s a tough pill to swallow after such a narrow defeat, but Mayer will have to focus on other opponents for the foreseeable future.

“I’m really confident that I won that fight,” said Mayer after the fight. “She was defeated… I felt like I had it. I hope that she gives me a rematch. I think I deserve it, and I feel that the fans wants to see it.”

Baumgardner defeated Mayer with two scores of 96-95, while one judge saw Mayer the 97-93 victor.
