Riddick Bowe is a heavyweight legend in his own right, ranking amongst the likes of Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Mike Tyson.
‘Iron’ Mike was a formidable heavyweight during his prime, which saw him break the record as being the youngest world heavyweight champion of all time in 1986, a record that still stands to this day. Although his career was overshadowed with controversy in the later stages, he still remains one of the greatest of all time.
Holyfield’s glittering career saw him pick up the undisputed championship at both cruiserweight and heavyweight, a feat that has only been achieved by one other fighter in boxing history, none other than Oleksandr Usyk.
Lewis is arguably the greatest British fighter of all time, having won the world heavyweight championship on three occasions. He effectively defeated every fighter he faced in his career, avenging his two career losses to Hasim Rahman and Oliver McCall with two devastating knockouts.
Speaking to Boxing News, ‘Big Daddy’ Bowe was tasked with ranking the aforementioned heavyweight legends, giving the top spot to his former opponent ‘The Real Deal’
“I would have to say Holyfield’s number one. Lennox Lewis is second and then Mike Tyson.”
He then backed up his choices by saying the following.
“Well, I know Holyfield, no matter what you do and how you do it, he’s gonna be there. Lennox I put him number two cause he’s the biggest of all of us and I guess he proved that he was durable. Mike isn’t as durable as those guys cause they knocked him out. But in his prime he was the man, he would knock anybody out.”
Bowe held the undisputed heavyweight championship in the early 1990’s, losing on just one occasion during his exceptional 19-year career.
