In the eyes of many, Canelo Alvarez is one of the best fighters on the planet.

After 66 fights as a professional, the Mexican superstar has suffered just two defeats in a career that began when he was just 15-years-old.

In 2021, he became the undisputed super middleweight champion, stopping the previously unbeaten Caleb Plant to leave with all four of the titles at 168lbs.

The 34-year-old has faced an array of top fighters during his glittering career, including the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Miguel Cotto, Sergey Kovalev and Jermell Charlo.

But there is one fighter that Canelo has faced who he believes is better than the rest, as well as being the man to hand him his first career defeat.

Speaking on the Full Send Podcast, the Mexican icon named former opponent Floyd Mayweather as a fighter who ‘has everything’, as he recaps on facing the pound-for-pound great in 2013.

“He’s so smart, he has everything in a fighter. A complete fighter!”.

Canelo then spoke about Mayweather’s power, claiming he does not punch hard even though it is an attribute the American did not necessarily need to have due to his skill level.

“He don’t have power in the punches, but when you’re that kind of fighter you don’t need it.”

Mayweather drew the curtain on his sensational career after defeating MMA fighter Conor McGregor in August 2017. Since walking away from the professional ranks, the 47-year-old has had eight exhibition contests, facing Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul and Aaron Chalmers to name a few.
