It was way back in 2013 when Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and Floyd Mayweather Jr went toe-to-toe.

Billed as ‘The One’, Canelo bid to unify his WBC light middleweight title with Mayweather’s WBA strap, with both men putting their unblemished records on the line in the process.

Despite the risk that many people thought Mayweather would be taking in a fight against the Mexican star, this didn’t prove to be the case on the night, as the American put on a dominant display en route to a majority decision victory, which came as a shock to many of those in attendance.

Speaking to FightHub TV, the now 34 year old pound for pound king has commented on the power of his former rival, using just two simple words to describe it.

“No power.”

Canelo followed up with this claim by discussing Mayweather’s fighting style, admitting it was quite difficult to deal with at times.

“He has a style that doesn’t make for attractive fights. It’s very difficult to land punches. He’s not aggressive, he doesn’t punch hard at all.”

‘Money’ remained unbeaten for the duration of his career, picking up wins against Carlos Maidana, Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor before he hung up his gloves in the summer of 2017, with an incredible undefeated record of 50-0.

Canelo, now the reigning unified super middleweight champion, defeated Edgar Berlanga Jr in September to successfully defend his titles. He is expected to return to the ring in the first quarter of 2025, with Terence Crawford standing out as the likely next opponent for the Mexican icon.
