Floyd Mayweather is one of two fighters that hold a victory over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.

Canelo fought Mayweather back in 2013, when the Mexican superstar was just 23-years-old, The bout take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, with the WBC, WBA and RIng Magazine light middleweight titles at stake.

Despite the best efforts of Canelo, the skill and experience of ‘TBE’ proved to be too much on the night, as Mayweather dominated proceedings to claim a majority decision victory. The American had significantly higher punch stats than Canelo, landing almost 50% of punches thrown.

Speaking on the Full Send Podcast, the 34-year-old Mexican discussed the Mayweather fight where he offered praise for his former opponent, but claimed ‘he doesn’t have power’ in his shots..

“He’s so smart. He have everything in a fighter.

He don’t have power in the punches, but when you’re that kind of fighter you don’t need it.”

Canelo was then asked if the fight against Mayweather has been the toughest fight of his career, to which he said this.

“No, he’s one. There are tough fights and difficult fights, that was a difficult fight.”

The 47-year-old from Michigan remained undefeated for the rest of his career after beating Canelo, winning all 50 of his professional contests.

In the 50th and final contest of his illustrious career, Mayweather defeated MMA legend Conor McGregor in the tenth round of their clash. Since exiting the professional ranks, he has moved into exhibition bouts, facing the likes of Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul and Aaron Chalmers.
