Canelo vs. Kirkland To Be Held in San Antonio on May 2

Oscar De La Hoya informed ESPN Deportes that the upcoming fight between Canelo Alvarez and James Kirkland will be on May 2 in San Antonio Texas.

The fight will most likely be held at the Alamodome and and will air on regular HBO.

Alvarez, 24, of Mexico, is coming off 2014 wins against Alfredo Angulo and Erislandy Lara and will fight the hardest puncher he has ever faced.

Kirkland, 30, of Austin, Texas, has not fought since stopping Glen Tapia in December of 2013 and has had trouble staying active within the past few years.

ALso,it was confirmed that longtime trainer Ann Wolfe will not be in Kirkland’s corner for the most lucrative fight of his career.

Stylistically, the fight promises to bring fireworks–something it will need as it will go head-to-head with a Mayweather fight that will on the same night, but at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
