Terence Crawford has cemented himself as one of the greatest fighters of the modern era.
A four weight world champion, and a two weight undisputed world champion, ‘Bud’ boasts one of the most impressive resumes in boxing and has fought some of the biggest names in the sport during his career, including Errol Spence Jr, Shawn Porter and Amir Khan.
Crawford’s most recent victory came in August this year when he outpointed Israil Madrimov to pick up the WBA and WBO ‘interim’ super welterweight titles. Victory over Madrimov was the 41st of Terence Crawford’s career, making him a four weight world champion after previously holding titles at lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight.
Now, at 37, Crawford has entered the back end of his glittering career. With rumours of a massive fight against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez fuelling, it remains unclear whether ‘Bud’ will walk away from the sport if a showdown with the Mexican superstar ends up falling through.
Speaking to BoxNation, Crawford commented on the potential retirement rumours if the Canelo mega fight does not happen:
“I wouldn’t say that. Right now I’m just waiting on my options and looking for the best opportunities and options for Terence Crawford and my career.”
Crawford went on to give his prediction for that fight if it does end up happening in 2025:
“Well that’s why you watch it and see! You know, that’s what everybody wants to see. Everybody’s got [questions] that need to be answered, and the only way they can be answered is if me and Canelo is in the ring and we fight, so if that fight does happen then everybody’s answers, and questions and do’s and don’ts will be answered.”
Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has recently reiterated his desire to make Terence Crawford vs Canelo in 2025.
