Boxing fans are awaiting news on a potential dream fight between Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez.
37-year-old Crawford has enjoyed an incredible few years in the sport, cementing himself as arguably the number one fighter on the planet.
He became the undisputed welterweight champion in July 2023 when he finally locked horns with long-term rival Errol Spence Jr, stopping his fellow American in the ninth round at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After becoming a two-weight undisputed champion with that victory over Spence Jr, ‘Bud’ stepped up to 154lbs as he challenged Israil Madrimov for the WBA title, outpointing ‘The Dream’ over 12 rounds to achieve status as a four-division world champion.
Saudi chief Turki Alalshikh has openly expressed his ambition to get a fight between Crawford and Canelo signed, sealed and delivered by Summer 2025.
The Mexican superstar last appeared when he defeated Edgar Berlanga Jr in September, retaining his unified super middleweight titles once again.
Speaking to Fight Hub TV, the 37-year-old from Nebraska reiterated his intentions to remain in the sport, even if a fight with Canelo ends up coming to nothing.
“I don’t know, hopefully we can get that fight. You know, if not then, hey, we move onto the next.”
‘Bud’ is expected to return to the ring around April or May 2025, but it is unclear whether it will be against the Mexican megastar, or if the newly crowned WBA super-welterweight king will go down another route to write the next chapter in his truly unbelievable career journey.
