Daniel Dubois is enjoying an extraordinary run of form which has saw him become the IBF world heavyweight champion.
The 27-year-old from London has won his last three fights, defeating Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and then Anthony Joshua in a career best performance at Wembley Stadium last September, knocking out his fellow-Brit in the fifth round.
Dubois dropped Joshua in the very first round of their clash at the national stadium, as he went on to dominate the two-time heavyweight champion to make the first defence of his IBF title in his hometown.
‘DDD’ is due to make the next defence of his title against former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker, who is also on an outstanding run of form after beating Deontay Wilder and Zhang in his last two outings.
Ahead of the clash between Dubois and Parker, another top heavyweight contender has spoken out and revealed details of how he ‘knocked out’ the former in a sparring session.
Speaking to iFL TV whilst on a rant about Anthony Joshua, heavyweight contender Martin Bakole claimed he ‘stopped’ Dubois in sparring on more than one occasion.
āIām disappointed [Joshua] has been knocked out by someone I knocked out twice in the gym.ā
Bakole regards himself as one of the most avoided heavyweights on the planet, claiming a number of contenders have rejected offers to face him. He put on the performance of a lifetime against highly rated American prospect Jared Anderson last August, stopping ‘Big Baby’ in the fifth round of their clash.
The 31-year-old from he Democratic Republic of the Congo is due to face Nigerian heavyweight star Efe Ajagba in a final eliminator for Dubois’ IBF heavyweight title next. The all-African showdown is set to be officially announced in the upcoming few weeks.
