David Benavidez Is Certain Who Wins Canelo vs Terence Crawford Fight: “He’s One Of The Best”

Terence Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez are still rumoured to be in negotiations for a mega fight to take place in 2025.

The pound for pound stars have been on each other’s radar for quite some time now, with both fighters reportedly keen on getting the showdown over the line as soon as possible.

Crawford’s most recent victory came in August, when he dethroned Israil Madrimov of his WBA light middleweight title, becoming one of the few fighters in the history of boxing to win a world title across four weight classes.

Canelo currently reigns as the unified super middleweight champion, successfully defending his titles in September with a comprehensive points win over Edgar Berlanga Jr at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

One man who has shared his prediction for the rumoured super fight between ‘Bud’ and the Mexican icon is David Benavidez, who has been also been linked as a potential opponent for Canelo in recent years.

Speaking to Sean Zittel, Benavidez backs the super middleweight king to overcome Crawford, claiming the jump in weight could be a step too far for the 37-year-old.

“To be honest Crawford is one of the best technical fighters I’ve ever seen, but when he went to 154, I’m not saying he had problems but he looked like he didn’t have the power he had at 147, and he’d still have to come up two weight classes.

If Crawford is going against Canelo, in his first fight at 168, he has a lot of disadvantages against him, so I feel like Canelo would win. He’s bigger and more experienced.”

Negotiations between the camps of Crawford and Canelo look set to continue into the New Year, with official news on both fighters’ next chapters set to be confirmed soon.
