Deontay Wilder is gearing up for a return to the ring as he looks to bounce back from successive defeats.

The former long-reigning WBC heavyweight champion is said to be preparing for a return to action, which could come sooner rather than later despite a number of calls for ‘The Bronze Bomber’ to walk away from boxing after back-to-back losses.

Wilder suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Joseph Parker at the end of 2023, before returning to action in June on the Queensberry vs Matchroom ‘5 vs 5’ showdown, where he was blasted out by Zhilei Zhang in the fifth round of their clash.

Defeat to Zhang was the fourth in his last five outings and came in devastating fashion as a thunderous right hook from ‘Big Bang’ sent Wilder to the canvas, drawing an abrupt end to proceedings in Riyadh.

It has been reported in recent months that heavyweight legend Wladimir Klitschko could make a sensational return to the sport, with ‘The Bronze Bomber’ emerging as a potential opponent for the former unified heavyweight champion.

Wilder’s coach Malik Scott spoke to Jeff Bet and confirmed they are open to negotiating a huge clash with Klitschko in 2025.

“Wladimir Klitschko is a legend. There’s so much that comes with that brand of Wladimir Klitschko. So, that’s worth the while right there. I’m sure that would be a name to consider if that rumour he wants to return is true, that would be a name to put some attention on.

If something like that were to happen, Deontay Wilder and Wladimir, it’d be one of the biggest heavyweight fights of all time.”

Turki Alalshikh is reportedly weighing up options for Klitschko’s return, with a number of heavyweights said to be interested in a showdown against ‘Dr. Steelhammer’.
