Devin Haney has left the door open to a potential rematch with Ryan Garcia.

The 26-year-old from San Francisco, California clashed with ‘King Ry’ last April in a super lightweight showdown that was surrounded by controversy. Garcia was initially declared the winner after putting on the performance of a lifetime against ‘The Dream’, only for the victory to be overturned shortly after when it was revealed he had tested positive for the banned substance Ostarine.

Garcia was issued with a 1-year suspension and a fine of over $1 million in the wake of his positive test. He is free to resume his boxing career in April, with a ring return targeted for this summer.

Haney has revealed in recent weeks that he is keen on avenging the events of his first meeting with Garcia, with a rematch in the pipeline for 2025.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Haney’s father and trainer Bill Haney revealed his son is definitely interested in facing Garcia for a second time, as he outlines the conditions if a rematch were to take place.

“Oh yeah definitely, listen, Devin wants the fight, anybody that the people wanna see more importantly.

But he wants it to be on a level playing field. He’s not using drugs and he doesn’t expect anyone else to use drugs.

As if the people aren’t calling for [the rematch]. We want to know who is really it in boxing and the way to do is it to do VADA testing for 365 and let the people know he’s a clean fighter. The biggest thing is drug testing that’s the biggest stickler for making the fight.”

Haney was made WBC ‘Champion in Recess’ last June at his own request. He is expected to make a return to the ring in the next couple of months, with official news on his next outing expected to be shared very soon.
