The career of Floyd Mayweather was nothing short of incredible.

Spending 21 years as a professional, Mayweather retired undefeated, winning all 50 of his contests and holding world titles in five different weight divisions. He officially retired from the sport in 2017 after stopping MMA great Conor McGregor in the tenth of their 12-round showdown in Las Vegas.

‘Money’ has since moved into exhibition bouts, having faced the likes of Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul and Aaron Chalmers. The Olympic bronze medalists most recent exhibition came in August of this year when he faced John Gotti III for the second time, after their first contest ended in controversy.

Rumours of a return to professional boxing for ‘Money’ have been flying around for the last 12 to 18 months, with a potential showdown with YouTube sensation turned professional fighter Jake Paul making the headlines in recent months.

Speaking to TMZ about the prospect of facing ‘The Problem Child’, Mayweather knows that he would have to give up a considerable weight advantage if the fight was ever going to happen, but seems happy to do so.

“Paul was doing a sit down on a podcast one time and he said ‘I don’t want to do an exhibition against Floyd Mayweather’, he said ‘I’m only doing real fights’. Now, of course I can’t get up that high in weight but I’ll fight him at the weight that I’m at.”

Paul has fought twelve times as a professional, mainly challenging MMA fighters along the way. He did however go face-to-face with Tommy Fury in February 2023, dropping the Brit but eventually losing via a split decision.

The 27 year old’s most recent appearance came against heavyweight legend Mike Tyson, beating the youngest world heavyweight champion of all time in a controversial 8-round spectacle in Arlington, Texas.
