Frank Martin was the latest man to suffer defeat at the hands of Gervonta Davis.
‘The Ghost’ challenged Davis for the WBA lightweight title on June 15th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, setting his sights on handing ‘Tank’ the first defeat of his glittering career.
Despite Martin’s best effort for the first seven rounds, it was another devastating knockout that drew an end to proceedings, with Davis closing the show towards the end of the eighth round.
In a video with FightHub TV, the 29-year-old shared his thoughts on the power of Tank, summing it up by saying ‘he’s got power’ then going on to claim his punch accuracy is what makes the difference.
“He’s got power. He does a great job at landing the big shot. He knows how to land that shot and hit guys on the button to get them out of there.
He’s an accurate puncher and knows how to land that shot.”
Davis’ win over Martin was the 30th of his career, picking up 28 knockouts along the way. He has won four of his last five contests inside the distance, and will be looking to extend this streat in his next outing.
The 30-year-old is due to return to the ring on March 1 2025, as he prepares to defend his WBA lightweight crown against Lamont Roach at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
‘Tank’ has hinted in recent months that he plans to walk away from boxing by the end of 2025, but it remains unclear whether the three weight world champion will actually follow through with these plans.
