Gervonta Davis is highly regarded as one of the most accomplished fighters in boxing.

The 30 year old has held versions of the world title in three weight divisions, currently holding the WBA lightweight championship which he most recently defended against Frank Martin when he knocked out ‘The Ghost’ in the eighth round of their contest earlier this year.

Despite being one of the best current fighters in the sport, ‘Tank’ has hinted that he could make a shock exit from the sport and retire as early as next year, and is planning just three more fights before he hangs up the gloves.

His next fight is pencilled in for March 1 2025, with Lamont Roach the opponent in waiting. The pair are due to collide at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Speaking to FightHub TV, Davis has revealed there are two fighters he would like to come up against before he retires, the first being a man he has already clashed with once already – Ryan Garcia.

“Probably Ryan [Garcia].”

‘Tank’ clashed with Garcia in April 2023 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, dropping ‘King Ry’ twice en route to a seventh round knockout victory.

Davis has named reigning WBO light welterweight king Teofimo Lopez as the second man he would be interested in facing before he potentially walks away from boxing by the end of next year.

“Yeah I’d [fight] Teo.”

Lopez last fought in August when he outpointed Steve Claggett over 12 rounds to retain his WBO title, with his next contest yet to be confirmed.

Potentials showdowns with Garcia and Lopez would be a fitting way to end the glittering career of ‘Tank’, if he does actually intend to hang his gloves up within the next 12 months.
