Gervonta Davis has targeted a huge fight before he plans to walk away from boxing at the end of 2025.

The 30-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland is the reigning WBA lightweight champion, having won all 30 of his professional contests with 28 of those victories coming inside the distance.

Davis’ most recent title defence came in June when he scored a sensational knockout over Frank Martin in the eighth round of their showdown in Las Vegas.

‘Tank’ shocked the boxing world when he announced his plan to exit the sport, claiming that 2025 will be his last year before he hangs up the gloves.

“After next year, I’m out of it. Out of the sport. It’s over with after this year. This is trash, garbage. I’m out.

I’m fed up with it. I don’t care about belts. I don’t care about none of that.”

With potentially only a few fights left in his career, Davis told FightHub TV that one man is on his radar before he walks away – Ryan Garcia.

“Probably Ryan [Garcia].”

‘Tank’ faced Garcia in April 2023, as he dropped ‘King Ry’ twice before stopping him in the seventh round of their showdown in Las Vegas.

The 26-year-old from California is currently serving a ban from boxing, after a failed drugs test following his incredible win against Devin Haney revealed Ostarine had been in his system in the lead-up to the fight. The former WBC ‘interim’ lightweight champion is free to resume his boxing career in April, with news on his return to the sport set to be revealed in due course.

As for Davis, he is due to return to the ring on March 1 as he takes on Lamont Roach in a defence of his WBA title. The lightweight showdown takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
