Jake Paul and Mike Tyson went toe-to-toe in a controversial showdown in Texas last month.
YouTube sensation Paul challenged the 58-year-old former world heavyweight champion at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The card was the first of its kind to be streamed live on Netflix and reached a record breaking audience at the gate.
As expected, the contest was extremely underwhelming and at times concerning, with Tyson clearly struggling to match the pace and stamina of a man over 30 years his junior.
‘The Problem Child’ ended up coasting through the contest without inflicting too much damage on the heavyweight legend, with the scorecards reading a comprehensive victory for the social media star.
When speaking at the post-fight press conference, the-27 year-old commented on the power of ‘Iron’ Mike and revealed that he did not hurt him at all during their clash – when asked if Tyson’s power bothered him, Paul responded with just one word.
“No [I didn’t feel his power].”
He went on to say that Tommy Fury is the only fighter to have ‘buzzed’ him.
“Only because the crowd got turned up, but it didn’t actually hurt. But, I mean, nobody’s punches have really hurt. I got buzzed a little off Tommy Fury but that’s about it.”
Paul is now gearing up for a return to the ring at some point in the first half of 2025, as discussions with potential opponents continue with an announcement expected soon.
For ‘Iron’ Mike, its expected that the youngest world heavyweight champion of all time will go back into retirement, much to the delight of boxing fans around the world hoping his legacy remains intact.
