On April 8, 2017, top pound-for-pound fighter Vasyl “Hi-Tech” Lomachenko (7-1, 5 KOs) will defend his WBO Super Lightweight title against Jason “El Canito”Sosa (20-1-4, 15 KOs) to open up the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, MD.
Hi-Tech has been on fire lately, ending four of his last five fights in systematic destruction, none reaching the final bell. Sosa is no fool however, he has been taking this fight seriously and training hard to prepare.
In order to avoid suffering a massive upset loss to Sosa, Lomachenko needs these three keys to success.
1. Keep it Moving

Jason Sosa has great power when he lands, but he tends to move on flat feet.
Vasyl Lomachenko has exhibited in his past that his style is perfect against this fighting style.
Exhibiting his ability to avoid fighters who stand up against brawlers like Nicholas Walters, all Hi-Tech has to do is stay true to the boxing, moving ability we know he has and Sosa will find himself unable to land.
2. Stay Off the Ropes

Jason Sosa, although not nearly as good of an all-around fighter, probably has more raw power than the lighter Vasyl Lomachenko and will look to unleash it at choice moments throughout the fight.
One of the best moments to unleash a vicious right hand to the head or a crunching hook to the body is when Sosa’s opponent is trapped against the ropes.
In order to avoid being forced to brawl with a larger man, Loma will have to stay away from his opponent and keep off the ropes.
3. Make Him Scared

Jason Sosa is no cherry pick, but in no way is he as skillful of a defensive fighter as Vasyl Lomachenko. He tends to drop his hands often and let his hands fly too much at times.
In order to assure this does not happen, Hi-Tech must unleash his most powerful combinations through counterpunches.
He must be willing to trade at times in order to force Sosa to think twice about letting his hands fly.
