Teofimo Lopez Confirms He’s In Negotiations To Fight World Champion Next: “It’s Time To Take Over”

WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez has revealed that negotiations have started for his next fight

The two-weight world champion last appeared in June when he outpointed Steve Claggett in Miami, retaining his WBO title in the process and making it five consecutive victories since suffering his first career defeat at the hands of George Kambosos Jr.

Lopez has enjoyed considerable success since his defeat to Kambosos, securing wins against Pedro Campa, Sandor Martin and Josh Taylor, picking up the WBO super lightweight title against the then undefeated Scotsman at Madison Square Garden in New York.

‘The Takeover’ then claimed successive victories against Jamaine Ortiz, followed by Claggett in the summer, as he now sets his sights on a clash with another world champion.

In a post made on Lopez’s X account, he staked his claim for a potential showdown against IBF world welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis.

“I f*** with you Jaron Ennis & your father Bozy however if it gots to go with our careers, I got to do what I do best and takeover! I have a youngin’ and he needs to see the best example of what a true fighter is! Nothing but love from this side B. Just straight Business.”

A fight with ‘Boots’ would present Lopez with the opportunity to become a three-weight world champion, with the pair looking likely to clash at some point in 2025 in what could be one of the most exciting match-ups of the year.
