Juan Manuel Marquez is one of the few men in the history of boxing to clash with both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
Mayweather and Pacquiao are recognised as two of the greatest fighters of all time, achieving incredible feats between them throughout their respective careers.
‘PacMan’ is the only fighter in boxing history to win world titles in eight separate weight divisions, an astonishing record which is unlikely to be beaten any time soon. The 46-year-old fought 72 times as a professional, with his last outing coming in August 2021 when he was outpointed by Yordenis Ugas.
Mayweather’s legacy speaks for itself, holding world titles in five weight classes and winning all 50 of his professional outings. The 47-year-old last fought as a professional in August 2017 in a sensational clash with MMA legend Conor McGregor, which ‘TBE’ won in an eleventh round stoppage.
The two finally met back in 2015 in a clash billed as the ‘Fight of the Century’. Unfortunately the pre-fight hype didn’t live up to the action, and Mayweather cruised to a points victory with many fans claiming the contest happened too late on in the career of Pacquiao.
In a clip shared on social media, Marquez still believes Mayweather would have got the better of his opponent even if they had fought years prior.
“I think Mayweather because he has a difficult style. I said for a fight you need two fighters and Mayweather is very, very difficult to connect [with] punches. He’s a top fighter.”
Marquez faced ‘TBE’ back in 2009, falling short in a unanimous decision defeat at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
After exiting professional boxing, Mayweather has enjoyed campaigning as an exhibition fighter, facing the likes of Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul and John Gotti III.
