Mike Tyson Is Confident One Current Champion Is Unbeatable: “I’d Be Afraid Of Him Too”

‘Iron’ Mike Tyson believes there is just one active fighter who can remain unbeaten throughout his entire career.

The heavyweight legend enjoyed an impressive professional career where he dominated the division for the majority of the late 80’s and early 90’s.

His crowning moment came in 1986, just one year after he made his professional debut, when he dispatched of Trevor Berbick in two rounds to capture the WBC heavyweight title and become the youngest heavyweight champion in the sport’s history.

Tyson would soon become the undisputed heavyweight champion, defeating WBA champion James Smith and IBF champion Tony Tucker respectively. After a handful of successful title defences, ‘Iron’ Mike suffered the first defeat his career against James ‘Buster’ Douglas in 1990, a massive upset victory for Douglas which is still regarded as one of the biggest in boxing history.

In an interview with ESNEWS, Tyson didn’t hesitate to name David Benavidez as the one fighter who he believes beats all-comers, admitting even he would be scared of facing ‘The Monster’.

“I like him against everybody.”

“He’s so underrated but so over-polarised here. Listen, I’d be afraid to fight him too if I was in that division. No one even has a chance against him, and I’m talking facts.”

Benavidez is storming through the light heavyweight division after a successful campaign at super middleweight, which saw him win the WBC title on two occasions. Despite his undefeated status, the American still believes that there is one current fighter that he can’t beat. The 28-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona currently holds the WBC ‘Interim’ title at 175lbs and scored a unanimous decision over David Morrell last month.
