Heavyweight legend Mike Tyson has finally spoken out about the power of YouTube sensation Jake Paul.
The former world heavyweight champion clashed with ‘The Problem Child’ in a controversial showdown at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington on November 15, which was the first professional outing for ‘Iron’ Mike in just under 20 years.
Steeped in controversy, the eight rounder was met with an array of mixed reactions, with most full of concern over the 58-year-old heavyweight icon being allowed to officially box as a professional once again, after such a long hiatus from the sport.
Despite the best efforts of the 27-year-old social media star, the contest went the distance and ended with Tyson visibly exhausted but able to exit the ring physically unscathed, much to the delight of fans around the world. The judges scored it unanimously in favour of Paul, picking up the 11th win of his 12 fight boxing career.
Speaking to FOX Sports Radio, ‘Iron’ Mike claimed he didn’t remember much of the eight round battle, but did sum up the 27-year-old’s power by saying he ‘punches hard’ and that his body was sore after the fight.
“I don’t remember it, but my body, my chest, stomach and stuff was really sore … Jake punches hard. My body hurt so bad.”
After initially confirming he would fight on, Tyson has now spoken out to confirm his retirement from boxing, which was met with a universal sigh of relief from fans, pundits and even ex-opponents of the heavyweight legend.
Paul is now gearing up for his next ring appearance, which is set to come in the summer of 2025, as it is rumoured that UFC legend Conor McGregor will be the next challenger for ‘The Problem Child’.
