Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather clashed in the highly anticipated ‘Fight Of The Century’ back in 2015.
After years of rumours and speculation, the welterweight rivals finally locked horns at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, with three of the four world titles at 147lbs up for grabs.
Many felt the showdown happened a few years too late, with both men refusing to get embroiled in a war, as Mayweather cruised to a unanimous decision win over ‘PacMan’, adding the WBO welterweight crown to his collection in the process.
The 46-year-old from the Philippines, who has won world titles in eight weight divisions, has not fought since losing out to Yordenis Ugas in 2021. Despite suffering defeat last time out, Pacquiao has left the door open for a return to the sport in 2025.
Speaking to Seconds Out, he addressed claims that a rematch with Mayweather could actually happen, but has named his one condition.
“I can fight Floyd again. He wants an exhibition.
I said ok I can fight [an] exhibition, but there has to be [a judges’] decision.”
47-year-old Mayweather drew the curtain on his professional career back in 2017, when he claimed a stoppage victory over MMA legend Conor McGregor to extend his unbeaten record to 50-0.
Since his bout with the Irish superstar, ‘Money’ has had eight exhibition contests, facing the likes of Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul and Aaron Chalmers. It remains unclear whether ‘TBE’ will be making his return to boxing in 2025, but he has spoken on multiple occasions about climbing through the ropes once again in the future.
