Roy Jones Jr Wants To Step Back Into The Ring And Face One Man: “I’ll Knock Him Out”

Roy Jones Jr has expressed his interest in making a sensational return to the ring.

The 56-year-old from Pensacola, Florida has not fought as a professional since he was defeated by MMA legend Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis in April 2023.

Jones has left the door open for a return to the ring since he was outpointed by Pettis over eight underwhelming rounds at the Fiserv Forum in Wisconsin, although this has yet to come to fruition for the four division world champion.

At the peak of his powers, Jones was one of the best fighters on the planet. He picked up career defining victories against the likes of Mike McCallum, James Toney and Bernard Hopkins to name a few.

In an interview with Forbes, the 56-year-old revealed he is targeting a fight against YouTube sensation turned professional fighter Jake Paul, where he claims he would ‘knock him out’.

“I’d beat him. I’m sure. I haven’t had any conversations about fighting Jake Paul, I am not really a full-fledged heavyweight, but I weigh probably what he weighs right now. It wouldn’t be hard to match his weight, I guess. The only thing different though is he will probably have to take me out because I’m coming to knock him out. I’m going to get him, or he’s going to get me.”

Paul faced heavyweight icon Mike Tyson in a bout that sparked major controversy within the boxing world last November, outpointing ‘Iron’ Mike over eight rounds at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

‘The Problem Child’ is due to return to the ring at some point in 2025, although an official announcement on an opponent for the 28-year-old is yet to be made.
