Roy Jones Jr Didn’t Think Twice When Naming His Pick For Greatest Fighter Ever

Roy Jones Jr. has revealed who he believes is the greatest fighter in boxing history.

Jones himself is often regarded as being one of the greatest to have ever laced up the gloves, enjoying a glittering professional career which saw him claim world titles across four weight classes.

The peak of his tenure came in the early to mid 1990’s where he picked up legacy defining wins against the likes of Mike McCallum, Bernard Hopkins and James Toney, with Jones once stating naming Toney his toughest ever opponent.

Jones suffered the first blemish on his record back in 1997 after the fight was ruled a disqualification, although he would avenge this in their rematch to capture the WBC light heavyweight title.

Whilst he is often commended for being one of the very best of all times, Jones believes there is just one fighter in particular who deserves the title of ‘the greatest of all time’.

Speaking on Jay Midnyte, Jones made no bones about naming Muhammad Ali as the man who stands out from the rest as the greatest ever.

“The greatest fighter of all time, the greatest athlete of all time in my book, always is going to be Muhammad Ali. It ain’t what I think, it’s what I know.”

Ali is widely recognised as being one of, if not the greatest fighter of all time. His incredible professional career spanned just over 20-years, culminating in him winning the world heavyweight championship on three separate occasions, defeating a number of legendary fighters including George Foreman, Sonny Liston and Joe Frazier.

He sadly passed away in 2016 after a long and brave battle with Parkinsons Disease.
