The professional boxing career of Youtube sensation Jake Paul has captured the attention of boxing fans around the world.
The 27-year-old began his career as a fighter almost five years ago as he defeated fellow social media star AnEson Gib via stoppage in the opening round.
‘The Problem Child’ has won 11 of his 12 professional outings since his debut, defeating MMA legends Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley and Nate Diaz along the way.
Paul’s maiden career defeat came at the hands of British fighter Tommy Fury in February 2023. The 27-year-old dropped Fury but suffered a split decision loss at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia.
Paul’s most recent outing came in November when he faced heavyweight legend Mike Tyson over eight rounds in Texas. After a frustrating bout, which became difficult to watch at times, it was the ‘The Problem Child’ who prevailed after getting the nod on all 3 of the judges cards.
In a recent interview with Boxing Unleashed, four weight world champion and boxing icon Roy Jones Jr gave his opinion of the Youtube star in a few simple words.
“He can actually fight.”
The next chapter of Paul’s career is yet to be confirmed, but he is expected to return to the ring by Summer of this year.
Jones Jr has emerged as a potential opponent for the 27-year-old, saying he would like to ‘test the chin’ of the YouTuber.
“I don’t think Mike checked his chin at all. I wouldn’t mind having a shot to see if I could get to his chin, to test his chin.
He takes the shot, cool. Or if he can catch me before I can get to his chin, cool. But I would definitely like a shot to get in there and shoot at his chin, you know?”
