Retired world champion Roy Jones Jr has weighed in on the boxing ability of Jake Paul.

Jones is often regarded as being undoubtedly one of the greatest fighters to have ever laced up the gloves, enjoying an accomplished professional career where he won world titles across four weight divisions.

The 56-year-old from Pensacola, Florida won world titles from middleweight right up to heavyweight, picking up impressive victories against the likes of Bernard Hopkins, James Toney and Mike McCallum along the way.

Since exiting the professional ranks, Jones has had a number of exhibition contests against high-profile opposition including former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, who he faced over 8-rounds back in 2020.

Another fighter who has shared the ring with the once formidable heavyweight icon YouTuber-turned-professional fighter Jake Paul, who began his career 5-years-ago.

In an interview with Boxing Unleashed, Jones made an honest claim about the actual boxing ability of ‘The Problem Child’, who has suffered just one defeat in 12 contests.

“He can actually fight.”

Paul’s most recent outing game against ‘Iron’ Mike last November, clashing with the two-time world heavyweight champion at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The 8-round bout was an officially sanctioned bout, which sparked controversy from fans and pundits around the world who expressed their disappointment in ‘Iron’ Mike being allowed to fight as a professional almost 20-years after his last ring appearance.

Paul was declared the winner via unanimous decision, beating the heavyweight great comprehensively in what was a frustrating fight to watch. ‘Iron’ Mike later admitted regret in taking the fight and announced his final retirement from the sport shortly after.
