Shakur Stevenson has shared his views on a potential rematch between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia.

The lightweight stars clashed last April, with ‘King Ry’ putting on the performance of a lifetime against Haney, dropping the former WBC super lightweight three times on route to a decision win at the Barclays Center in New York.

Garcia’s victory was very quickly overshadowed in the following few weeks, as it was revealed the 26-year-old had failed a VADA test, which showed he had been taking the banned substance Ostarine. The bout was ruled a no-contest, with ‘King Ry’ being issued with a 1-year suspension and a fine of over $1 million. He is free to resume his boxing career in April.

It has been reported in the last couple of weeks that a rematch between the pair could take place in 2025, with both fighters said to be keen on locking horns for the second time.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, reigning WBC lightweight champion Stevenson was asked if he was interested to see ‘The Dream’ make his return to the sport this year.

“I think excited is a like a strong word but I’m interested. I wanna see how he handles that traumatic experience that he went through, and see how he bounces back from it.”

The 27-year-old was then asked to give his verdict on the potential rematch between Haney and Garcia, to which he said this.

“I know he’s strong mentally so he [Haney] can win for sure but it all depends on how he’s feeling after he gets back. Is he the same fighter? Let’s see we gotta find out.”

Haney revealed earlier this week that he is targeting a return to the ring in March, although an opponent and official fight date is yet to be confirmed.
