DeGale vs. Bute

Lou Catalano, Staff Writer

Lucian Bute was once considered the best super middleweight in the world. Then he traveled to England and got Froch’d super hard.

He’s 2-2 in his last four, and he hasn’t beaten a top fighter since, well, he’s never really beaten a top fighter.

James DeGale, another Brit, defeated Andre Dirrell and damn near knocked him out in May. I don’t think Bute is ready for this. DeGale by KO.

I think James DeGale will outpoint Lucian Bute, probably after drifting off halfway through the fight and thinking about his tea.

Prediction: DeGale

Sarah Gruber, Staff Writer

I expect James DeGale to start aggressive and stay on Lucian Bute relentlessly. He had good success against Andre Dirrell in early rounds but could not keep up his power and aggression throughout the fight.

DeGale has proven he does not fight well going backwards and his performance against Andre Dirrell was good, but got ugly at times. I expect him to really try to put on a show against a Bute to solidify himself. DeGale by KO.

Prediction: DeGale
