Vic Darchinyan has lost two of his last three and has been largely inactive fighting just twice since 2013.

Jesus Cuellar should be able to garner a successful defense in a battle of the southpaws.

Prediction: Cuellar

Lou Catalano, Senior Writer

Vic Darchinyan used to be one of the more feared fighters in the sport, due to the cement in his left hand and the fact that he looks like he uses his basement to store corpses.

But he’s way, way past his prime at 39 years old–which in the lighter weights makes him about 600–and he’s just a shell of his former self, a good 10 pounds over his best fighting weight.

He’s always got a puncher’s chance, but that’s about all I give him here. Cuellar by KO.

Prediction: Cuellar

Tony Calcara, Staff Writer

This could shape up to be awfully interesting. Vic Darchinyan, 39, brings a world of experience with him against the younger Jesus Cuellar. At 28, Cuellar has proven punching power with only one loss.

I am going with the younger, stronger man in Cuellar. Nothing would surprise me here, but I’m going with Cuellar.

I loved watching Vic Darchinyan… four or five years ago. He’s been through a lot and it’s surprising he hasn’t taken the gloves off for good.

Apparently, he’s still getting title shots despite getting thrashed by world class fighters like Nicholas Walters and even a broken Nonito Donaire in their half baked rematch.

Darchinyan serves as gate keeper for Jesus Cueller, who’s looking to make a name off the veteran. Vic is still a puncher and his awkward style may cause slight confusion for the lesser known champ, Cueller, but I think the young buck takes this one.

Prediction: Cuellar

Alex Burgos, Editor-in-Chief

Vic Darchinyan has a punchers chance, but only slightly, because he’s not a huge hitter at Featherweight. In fact, he’s more of a resume builder for Jesus Cuellar who should be able to win easily. If Vic gets starched–which will likely to be the case–he should hang up the gloves.

Prediction: Cuellar

Robert Guerrero
vs.
Aron Martinez

Aron Martinez losing two of his last three fights and going life and death in two fights with Alberto Herrera doesn’t bode well for him.

Sure, Robert Guerrero has been inactive aside from a tough points loss vs. Keith Thurman, but he is still a level or two above Martinez.

Prediction: Guerrero

Lou Catalano, Senior Writer

Robert Guerrero should make quick work of Aron Martinez in an absolutely pathetic, garbage fight.

Martinez has fought just a couple of times since 2013, and Guerrero desperately needs the victory. But really, that’s why Martinez is here. Guerrero by third round KO.

Prediction: Guerrero

Tony Calcara, Staff Writer

Robert Guerrero is number one on my “blood and guts” list. He has not an ounce of quit in him and no matter the circumstances, he just keeps coming. I love his style, his desire and his heart.

Aron Martinez does have some fight in him. He’s been out of the ring for over a year, last fighting and being stopped inside of five rounds against Josesito Lopez.

I like Guerrero to win, by knockout if Martinez decides to stand toe to toe and test his will.

Soft touch? The cross fitting boxer Robert Guerrero steps in with Aron Martinez, a guy who lost two of his last three.

I would give Guerrero shit about it, but he needs to rebound after a tough fight with Keith Thurman and winning a war against Yoshihro Kamegai in 2014.

This is a tune up for Guerrero to showcase his skills and get back on track to bigger and better opportunities later this year.

Prediction: Guerrero

When PBC first started back in March–coincidentally with Robert Guerrero taking on Keith Thurman–we all asked how long it would take for Al Haymon to revert to crappy matchups. Well, we have our answer almost three months to the day with Guerrero vs. Aron Martinez.

Everything about this matchup sucks, especially the fact that casual fans may watch and thing, “What happened to Golf on Saturday’s?”

Guerrero should win this easily–by knockout–and if he doesn’t, we’ll be talking about a separate set of issues.
