Teddy Atlas Has Made His Canelo vs Terence Crawford Prediction: “I’m Not Going Against Him”

Pound for pound superstars Terence Crawford and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez are still being linked for a mega fight next year.

Riyadh Season’s Turki Alalshikh has expressed his desire on multiple occasions to make the fight happen, with it looking more likely that it will take place in 2025.

Crawford, who became undisputed welterweight champion in July 2023 after stopping division rival Errol Spence Jr inside nine rounds, made even more history for himself earlier this year when he became a four division champion, outpointing Israil Madrimov to capture the WBA title at 154 lbs.

Mexican icon Canelo has also enjoyed his fair share of success in recent years. After picking up the undisputed super middleweight title in 2021, he fell short in a challenge against the then WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, but the 34 year old has since picked up five wins on the spin defeating the likes of Gennadiy Golovkin, Jermell Charlo and Edgar Berlanga along the way.

Legendary boxing trainer turned analyst Teddy Atlas has offered his insight to Fight Hub TV into the potential mega fight between the two stars, stating that he would find it hard to go against the American southpaw.

“Very few people have the appetite or inclination for challenging themselves, Mr Crawford does.

I ain’t never going against that guy. Father Time might catch him, but I don’t know if a weight class can catch him.

It’s a tremendous challenge because Canelo is a tremendous fighter and bigger and strong and he can punch and time you. But just because you’re smaller… Crawford will come up with a gameplan that will make the other guy use his size.”

Boxing fans globally will be waiting to see if what could be one of the biggest contests in the sports history can get made.
