Tim Bradley Reacts To Gervonta Davis Retirement Announcement: “I’ll Tell You That Much”

Gervonta Davis has proved himself as one of the best fighters on the planet.

The 30 year old is the current WBA lightweight champion, having also won titles in two other weight divisions. ‘Tank’ was originally the WBA ‘regular’ title holder, but was subsequently elevated to full champion after Devin Haney vacated the title at the end of 2023.

Davis remains undefeated as a professional, picking up his latest win back in June when he knocked out Frank Martin in the eighth round, retaining his WBA crown and securing the 28th stoppage of his 30 fight career.

Heading into 2025, the Baltimore native is set to return to the ring on March 1, with Lamont Roach pencilled in as his next opponent. Roach has lost just once as a professional, falling short in a challenge of Jamel Herring’s WBO super featherweight title back in 2019.

Davis has made it clear that he intends to retire from the sport by the end of 2025, which has come as quite the shock to boxing fans around the globe.

Speaking to FightHype, two-weight world champion turned commentator Tim Bradley gives his thoughts on Tank’s possible retirement, where he says he wouldn’t blame the pound for pound star if he does hang the gloves up.

“Look I don’t blame him, I’ll tell you that much. This sport ain’t no joke.

He’s made a lot of money in the sport already. I know there’s fights out there that I would love to see Gervonta fight in, but you know if he ain’t feeling it, he ain’t feeling it, it is what it is!”

News on the future of Davis’ career is expected to come soon after his upcoming showdown with Roach, with the 30 year old set to weigh up his options for his last few fights.
