Boxing fans love action. They love to see to warriors go in there and play rock ’em sock ’em robots.

There are some fighters who have a reputation of having the ability to knock anyone out at any time.

Whether it’s by a grazing temple punch or a thudding bodyshot, the fighters on this list have proven to be the most powerful punchers in boxing today.

Scroll through for the top five power punchers in boxing today.

5. Deontay Wilder

Say what you will about Deontay Wilder, but he can punch–regardless of whether or not he’s punching tomato cans or guys getting off their shifts as Mexicali cab drivers.

With a record of 32-0 and all wins by way of knockout, Wilder has proven he can hurt you with any shot.

Can he take a shot? We’ll find out January 17, 2015 in Las Vegas when he challenges Bermane Stiverne for the WBC Heavyweight title.

It’ll be fun to watch.

4. Sergey Kovalev

Sergey Kovalev is THE champion at light-heavyweight (I could care less about that other Canadian guy) after beating the elderly statesman, Bernard Hopkins by a wide unanimous decision.

The current IBF, WBA and WBO champion, Kovalev is undefeated through 27 fights, touting a high 85 percent knockout ratio; Kovalev has taken out opponents by any punch.

With power in both hands, “The Krusher,” has proven to be a dangerous man in the ring.

3. Roman Gonazalez

“Chocolalito,” as most call in him in his home country of Nicaragua, is a master boxer. With a perfect record of 41 wins, zero losses, with 35 ending by knockout, Gonzalez has established himself on many P4P lists even though fighting out of the lesser known Flyweight division.

He boxes brilliantly and punches severely hard, each shot having a lasting effect on his opponent throughout the fight.

His war with lineal Flyweight champ Akira Yaegashi earlier this year was a FOTY candidate and showed just how strong of a puncher Chocolalito is, by finishing him off in the ninth round.

2. Lucas Matthysse

A year removed from being boxing’s boogeyman, Lucas Matthysse came back strong from his disappointing unanimous-decision loss to Danny Garcia by blasting John Molina away in what is called by many, the fight of the year in 2014.

Proving to still be a force in the junior welterweight division, Matthysse is still considered the top power puncher at 140.

1. Gennady Golovkin

What can be said about GGG that hasn’t already been said before? He is on different level when it comes to his power.

Whether he’s knocking Curtis Stevens into doing his own Joey Lawrence “Woah” or crushing the neck into Marco Antonio Rubio’s body, Gennady Golovkin is the hardest puncher today in boxing.

With rumors of a certain light heavyweight title holder being knocked around in sparring against him–cough, cough, Kovalev, cough–GGG’s legend grows as this generations Mike Tyson.
