Oleksandr Usyk Names The One Heavyweight That Beats Him, Even At His Best

Oleksandr Usyk cemented his place in boxing folklore with a second victory over Tyson Fury last year.

The Ukrainian icon defeated ‘The Gypsy King’ in their highly anticipated rematch on December 21 in Riyadh, successfully defending his unified WBC, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles in the process.

Usyk became the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the ‘four belt era’ in their first encounter seven months earlier, but was forced to vacate his IBF crown to make way for mandatory challenger Daniel Dubois.

The accomplishments of the 38-year-old are nothing short of incredible, having already achieved undisputed status at cruiserweight back in 2018 when he defeated Murat Gassiev to unify all four of the world titles at 200lbs in the final of the World Boxing Super Series.

Despite already writing his name into the heavyweight boxing history books with victories over Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, the Ukrainian superstar believes there is just one heavyweight that would have gotten the better of him had they fought during their respective professional careers.

In a round of ‘Winner Stays On – Prime vs. Prime’ with Daily Mail Sport, Usyk made no mistake in revealing the one fighter that would have defeated him, even at his dominant best.

“Muhammad Ali.”

In the eyes of millions, Ali is undoubtedly the greatest fighter to have ever laced up the gloves. Best known as ‘The Greatest’, he enjoyed an incredible career which saw him win the world heavyweight championship on several occasions, defeating a number of legendary fighters such as George Foreman, Joe Frazier and Sonny Liston throughout his tenure.
