Terence Crawford is 41 fights into an incredible boxing career.
After becoming undisputed welterweight champion in July 2023 when he defeated Errol Spence Jr in Las Vegas, Crawford moved up to super-welterweight where he dethroned WBA champion Israil Madrimov to become a four division champion, adding to the long list of his achievements.
‘Bud’ is one of the few fighters in the history of boxing to become a two-weight undisputed champion, and he is now on the hunt for his next opponent, as he is set to make a return to the ring in the first half of 2025.
It has been reported the last few months that Canelo Alvarez is the front runner to be Crawford’s next opponent, with the Mexican icon also weighing up his options for the next chapter of his story.
Turki Alalshikh has spoken out publicly to express his desire to get a fight between the pound-for-pound superstars over the line.
Another possible opponent for ‘Bud’ is reigning WBO super-lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, who spoke on an Instagram Live recently and revealed he is adamant that a clash with the 37-year-old will happen at some point in 2025.
“Yes. Next year I promise you guys that fight is gonna happen. Sometime in the summer next year or closer to the fall 2025. It’s an amazing year for The Takeover, you guys don’t want to miss it, man. We got a lot of great fights to come up. I’m hearing rumours of the negotiations between me and Devin Haney. Right now, sorry to say this is all false until further notice.”
Whilst it is likelier that Crawford will be matched against Canelo in a dream fight, Lopez will be hoping he can issue his own challenge to ‘Bud’ within the next 12 months.
