Orlando Salido (42-12-2, 28 KOs) knocked out Terdsak Kokietgym (53-5-1, 33 KOs) with a vicious combination in the 11th round of a veritable war in which both fighters were knocked down several times at the Fausto Gutiérrez Moreno Municipal Auditorium in Tijuana, Mexico.

Salido, who had previously campaigned at Featherweight but was unable to make weight for his last bout against Vasyl Lomachenko, was forced to vacate his WBO title before defeating Lomachenko in March.

However, in his first official campaign at Super Featherweight, Salido became the owner of an interim WBO Super Featherweight title, but it did not come easy as he was knocked down three times, once in each of Rounds one, two and five.

Salido, who hails from Ciudad Obregon, Mexico was not discouraged by Kotietgym’s power as he fought at close range throughout the fight to land several combinations.

Kokietgym was also dropped several times, once by a straight right hand in Round four and also by a vicious fight-ending combination in the 11th round.

In the co-main event, Javier Mendoza won the vacant IBF Flyweight title in a twelve-round slugfest against Ramon Garcia.

Both fighters engaged at close range from the opening bell, but Mendoza’s strength and skill advantage allowed him to gain the advantage on the scorecards going into the middle and later rounds.

Garcia was dropped in round five and once again in round 10 by Mendoza, who won with scores of 116-109, 115-110, and 115-110.
